Anti-Aging Skincare Routines Start in Your 20s!

Women’s skin changes as they age, and the effects of aging can start to show as early as their twenties. In order to keep the skin looking healthy, women need to take proactive steps in protecting their skin from the aging process. These steps include using anti-aging products and other techniques that will absolutely help in maintaining a youthful glow through all stages of life.
As the body ages, skin becomes thinner and lose its elasticity. Most women in their 20s do not realize the need to start an effective anti-aging regimen to help combat the unrelenting aging process. Here is a basic outline of changes women can expect as they progress through their 20's:

Early 20s:

*Skin is bright, bouncy, and plump due to naturally occurring collagen in the body

*Collagen production rate begins to slow

*Slight fine lines & wrinkles begin to appear-around the eyes

Mid 20s:

*Unseen up until this point, sun damage from early years begins to appear

*Skin turnover slows down creating a buildup of dead skin on the surface
*Some loss of elasticity.

Late 20s:

*Sun damage and poor skincare habits begin to show negative results.

*Collagen production continues to slow down creating a more noticeable presence of fine lines.
*Hyperpigmentation becomes more pronounced.

Anti-aging treatments during this important skincare decade will include incorporating products which help with collagen production and includes hyaluronic acid to retain moisture and boost hydration. Women should consider other beneficial treatments such as microdermabrasion, laser resurfacing, neurotoxins and dermal fillers. Anti-aging products will also be used in helping reduce wrinkles, pigmentation, and hyperpigmentation in order to restore a more youthful complexion. Other considerations are retinol cream, Vitamin CE & Ferulic Acid serum, and mineral based SPFs to help to slow the signs of aging and strengthen skin. NEVER forget the importance of a healthy diet.
Here are a few basic tips for women to follow in order to promote healthy, glowing skin;
1. Cleanse regularly: Wash your face daily with a gentle cleanser as an essential step in any skin care routine. Remember, never scrub harshly as this can damage the delicate skin on your face.
2. Correct & Protect: Utilize a Vitamin CE & Ferulic Acid Serum which will help lighten hyperpigmentation, protect your skin from oxidative stress & UV radiation and pump up the collagen to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. A retinol cream will help exfoliate dead skin cells while helping to build up collagen, especially under the eyes.

3. Hydrate: Use a moisturizer in the morning and evening to keep the skin hydrated, supple and healthy-looking. This may be an ideal time to incorporate a hydrating eye cream into your clients' skincare regimen. A moisturizing eye cream will specifically target the delicate skin underneath the eyes.
3. Wear a mineral based sunscreen: Protecting your skin from the sun with an SPF of 30 or higher is key to reducing wrinkles and age spots. Make sure to apply sunscreen every day, even when it’s cloudy as UVA rays are still prevalent.
4. Get enough sleep: 7-8 hours of sleep each night is of the utmost importance for your skin. While you’re sleeping, your body produces collagen which helps keep your skin elastic and wrinkle-free.
5. Eat healthy foods: Eating a balanced diet that includes lots of fruits and veggies can help keep your skin looking healthy. Foods that are high in antioxidants, such as green tea and berries, are especially beneficial for the skin.
Educating women on the skin change process as well as the anti-aging treatments available to them can help to generate revenue for any aesthetic business. Women appreciate when providers take the time to not only listen to their concerns but educate them on what to expect with the aging process. Once they understand how and why their skin is aging and which steps, they should take to help prevent the aging process, the more skincare and procedures they will desire and require. You will be amazed at the increase in your patient loyalty and retention. Bottom line, Anti-aging products and treatments are essential in helping women look and feel their best at all stages of life!
